25:1 The Jews accuse Paul before Festus;
25:8 He answers for himself,
Act_25:11. and appeals unto Caesar;
25:14 Afterwards Festus opens his matter to king Agrippa;
25:23 and he is brought forth;
25:25 Festus clears him of having done anything worthy of death. Verse 1intoActs 23:34 the provinceBy the province, Judea is meant; for after the death of Herod Agrippa, Claudius thought it imprudent to trust the government in the hands of his son Agrippa, who was then but seventeen years of age; and therefore, Cuspius Fadus was sent to be procurator. And when afterwards Claudius had given to Agrippa the tetrarchy of Philip, he nevertheless kept the province of Judea in his own hands, and governed it by procurators sent from Rome.he25:5, 18:22, 21:15ReciprocalMark 13:9 - take; Luke 21:12 - before; Acts 10:1 - in; 24:27 - Porcius Festus; 25:15 - when Verse 2Acts 25:15, 24:1; Job 31:31; Proverbs 4:16; Romans 3:12-19ReciprocalJeremiah 26:11 - saying; Luke 21:12 - before; Acts 23:12 - that; 25:24 - about; Romans 15:31 - I may Verse 3desiredActs 9:2; 1 Samuel 23:19-21; Jeremiah 38:4; Mark 6:23-25; Luke 23:8-24 layingActs 23:12-15, 26:9-11; Psalm 37:32, 37:33, 64:2-6, 140:1-5; Jeremiah 18:18; John 16:3; Romans 3:8ReciprocalEzra 8:31 - the hand; Psalm 35:20 - but; 119:95 - wicked; Proverbs 1:11 - let us lay; 12:6 - words; 24:15 - Lay; Jeremiah 26:24 - that; Hosea 6:8 - polluted with blood; Matthew 14:9 - sorry; Acts 6:11 - they; 9:24 - their; 12:11 - all; 20:3 - the Jews; 23:15 - that he; 23:21 - for; 25:9 - willing; 25:24 - about; 26:17 - Delivering; 26:21 - the Jews; 2 Corinthians 11:26 - in perils by mine; 2 Timothy 3:11 - but Verse 4ReciprocalJeremiah 26:24 - that; Acts 8:40 - Caesarea; 25:16 - It is not; 2 Timothy 3:11 - but Verse 5themActs 25:16, 23:30, 24:8 if25:18, 25:19, 25:25, 18:14; 1 Samuel 24:11, 24:12; Psalm 7:3-5; John 18:29, 18:30

The Julian law condemned those magistrates, and others, as violaters of the public peace, who had put to death, tortured, scourged, imprisoned, or condemned any Roman citizen who had appealed to Cesar. This law was so sacred and imperative, that, in the persecution under Trajan, Pliny would not attempt to put to death Roman citizens, who were proved to have turned Christians, but determined to send them to Rome, probably because they had appealed. Four years afterwards, Claudius removed him from that kingdom to a larger one; giving him the tetrarchy of Philip, that of Lysanias, and the province which Varus governed. Nero afterwards added Julias in Peraea, Tarichaea, and Tiberias. Claudius gave him the power of appointing the high priest among the Jews; and instances of his exercising this power may be seen in Josephus. He was strongly attached to the Romans, and did every thing in his power to prevent the Jews from rebelling; and when he could not prevail, he united his troops to those of Titus, and assisted at the siege of Jerusalem. After the ruin of his country, he retired with his sister Berenice to Rome where he died, aged 70, about ad 90.aboutActs 25:2, 25:3, 25:7 that he22:22; Luke 23:21-23ReciprocalRomans 15:31 - I may Verse 25committedActs 23:9, 23:29, 26:31; Luke 23:4, 23:14; John 18:38 and thatActs 25:11, 25:12 AugustusThe honourable title of Σεβαστος [G4575], or Augustus, that is venerable or august, which was first conferred by the senate on Octavius Caesar, was afterwards assumed by succeeding Roman emperors.ReciprocalDeuteronomy 21:22 - General; Jeremiah 26:16 - General; 37:18 - General; Acts 25:5 - if; 25:10 - as thou; 26:32 - appealed; 27:1 - when; 28:19 - I was Verse 26speciallyActs 26:2, 26:3ReciprocalLuke 7:8 - under; Acts 18:14 - If; 21:34 - know; 24:22 - When; 2 Corinthians 6:9 - unknown Verse 27Proverbs 18:13; John 7:51ReciprocalActs 6:2 - It
