Board Games

Seventy-five classic board games, retold for the Bible and free to play in any browser. They are grouped by the way they are played, so if you enjoy one you will probably enjoy its neighbours.

47 ready to play, 75 chosen so far.

Placement & Connection

You add a piece to an empty point and it never moves again. All the difficulty is in what counts as a win: a line of five, a connected chain from edge to edge, an enclosed region, a captured box.

Stack & Transform

The awkward squad: pieces that sit on top of each other, boards that rotate, lines that shove, rings that flip what they pass over.

  • Stand Fast Push lines of your marbles against your opponent to shove six off the board. Soon
  • Jacob's Ladder Move your worker, build a tower, and climb to the third level before your rival. Soon
  • One Body Lay hexagonal tiles without a board and surround the opposing queen bee to win. Soon
  • Prepare Ye the Way Stack stones to build an unbroken road from one edge of the board to the other. Soon
  • Turned Around Move your rings across the grid to flip markers and create lines of five. Soon
  • The Four Winds Place a marble and twist a quadrant of the board. Connect five in a line to win. Soon
  • Love Covereth Line up four pieces while swallowing smaller ones under your larger cups. Soon
  • Turn the Hearts Pick an outer cube, turn it to your mark, and slide the row to make five in line. Soon
  • With What Measure Ye Mete Choose the piece your opponent must place. Line up four with a shared trait. Soon

Step & Capture

Pick up one of your pieces, put it on a neighbouring point, and possibly take something. Seventeen games differ only in the adjacency graph and the capture rule.

Riders & Chess-likes

Pieces move by a per-type vector table with ranges, blockers, promotion zones and sometimes re-entry from a captured stock.

  • Crossing Jordan Advance your pieces across the river and trap the opposing general in his palace. Soon
  • The Redeemed Capture enemy pieces and bring them back onto the board fighting on your side. Soon
  • The Two Camps Leap your cannons across the board and outmanoeuvre the rival army in its palace. Soon
  • Walls of Jericho Move your queens and shoot flaming arrows to seal off squares on a shrinking board. Soon
  • The Gifts Are Shared Move your master and disciples using cards that pass to your opponent each turn. Soon

Track & Dice

Roll, advance along an ordered path, land on something that does something to you. Ten games — the single largest reuse win in the whole set.

Sowing

Lift the seeds from a pit and drop them one at a time around the board. Two games, and they differ by four parameters.

Tile & Shape Placement

Take a shape from a supply and fit it onto the board legally, then score what it touches.

  • Living Stones of the Temple Fit your coloured shapes on the board touching only at the corners, never edges. Soon
  • Building the Kingdom Draw and place land tiles to expand roads, cities, and chapels across the kingdom. Soon
  • A Land Flowing with Milk and Honey Gather resources from hexes, trade with neighbors, and build settlements and roads. Soon
  • Dividing the Inheritance Draft landscape dominoes to construct a five-by-five territory with crowned realms. Soon
  • The Mosaic of the Sanctuary Draft colourful tiles from the market to complete ornate rows along your wall. Soon
  • Dorcas' Coats and Garments Spend buttons and time to fit patch shapes together and weave a complete quilt. Soon
  • The Wilderness Wanderings Slide spare tiles into the maze to shift the corridors and reach your next goal. Soon
  • The Chain of Faith Match pip numbers end-to-end to play out your domino tiles onto the growing chain. Soon
  • Seven Pieces, One Story Arrange seven geometric shapes to match silhouettes without overlapping a single piece. Soon

Networks

Nodes and edges. Claim the edges, or move along them while somebody hunts you.

  • The Narrow Way Race your pawn to the far side while placing wooden fences to block your rival. Soon
  • Unto the Uttermost Part Deploy armies across the world map, roll dice to battle, and secure continents. Soon
  • The Journeys of Paul Collect matching cards to claim travel routes between cities and complete your journeys. Soon

Hidden Information

Somebody knows something you do not, and the game is the process of narrowing it down.

Solo Puzzles

No opponent at all. Nine games that need a generator and a solver where the others need an AI.
